Detection of Breathing Phases

چکیده
The electrical stimulation systems, for the needs of artificial ventilation are in the grater or lesser extent, in commercial use since 1970’s. Apart from development of new methods of stimulation and hardware solutions, the key role in development of such systems is reliable detection of phases during breathing. This paper gives the review of stimulation methods, physiology of respiratory system and one of the possible solutions, proposed by the authors.

Automatic detection of liver tumor motion by fluoroscopy images
Background: A method to track liver tumor motion signals from fluoroscopic images without any implanted gold fiducial markers was proposed in this study to overcome the adverse effects on precise tumor irradiation caused by respiratory movement. Materials and Methods: The method was based on the following idea: (i) Before treatment, a series of fluoroscopic images corresponding to different bre...
متن کاملPhase-dependent respiratory-motor interactions in reaction time tasks during rhythmic voluntary breathing.
The study investigated squeezing reaction time (RT) in response to a visual cue during rhythmic voluntary breathing at 0.6 Hz paced by a metronome, breath holding, or at rest in 13 healthy subjects. Rhythmic voluntary breathing slowed down RT, only in the expiratory phase with accompanied changes in the length of respiratory phases, while breath-holding reduced RT. The prolonged RT during volun...
متن کاملArm coordination symmetry and breathing effect in front crawl.
This study analysed the relationships among arm coordination symmetry, motor laterality and breathing laterality during a 100-m front crawl, as a function of expertise. Ten elite swimmers (G1), 10 mid-level swimmers (G2), and 8 non-expert swimmers (G3) composed three skill groups, which were distinguished by velocity, stroke rate, stroke length, breathing frequency (BF) and the mean number of s...

Background and aims: Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are a group of organic compounds that are produced during the incomplete combustion of fossil fuels and petroleum products and are widely spread in the environment. Newsagents may be exposed to urban pollutions such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. The aim of this study was to assess the breathing zone exposure of newsagents to ...
متن کاملAcceleration sensors in abdominal wall position as a non-invasive approach to detect early breathing alterations induced by intolerance of increased airway resistance
BACKGROUND Early detection of respiratory overload is crucial to mechanically ventilated patients, especially during phases of spontaneous breathing. Although a diversity of methods and indices has been established, there is no highly specific approach to predict respiratory failure. This study aimed to evaluate acceleration sensors in abdominal and thoracic wall positions to detect alterations...
